Great hack I am going to put this on my board asap.

Any chance of extending it to include New registrations. This would be a really useful way of detecting problem users trying to register under multiple ids, before they even got onto the board! Potentially useful to track banned users as well.

Excellent. Managed to convert the code for use on our current 6.05 board.

Trying to track duped users who were on AOL was a nightmare, this has solved it, thanks

An example is at our board, we state that no duplicate accounts allow, and we will ban on sight. We used to go by the IP address, but that can be unreliable. This fixes that
(unless of course they use another browser)

I just created a Multihack file for this and installed in on our board. If this works as designed it will be one of the simplest, yet most useful tools added to our site. We deal with lots of product testing and product discussions and sometimes we have a real problem with people “asking” a question and then logging in under another name and giving that product an “outstanding review.”

seems like that this hack has a conflict with the invisible mode at who is online ? now every user is visible ?!

i run the file, it show up a box ask for user name and pw to log in. Is that how it suppose to be?

It's asking for the user name and password to verify that you're an admin and allowed to see the info.

It also seems to capture those who change their usernames even within the same login id/member number. Not a big deal though, this is a very useful hack!

Can anyone tell me what file the list of identified double registrants is stored in? I'd like to prune it on occassion to remove some of them (like the public display name changes that do not represent seperate registrations).

Found a strange BUG:

What's the bug? Well Robert2 is the username and Robert Maxwell is Robert2s public display name, it's the same and only account on the forum.

Some people have also report that after adding the hack they can no longer change their public display name.

This hack captures the change in user by capturing the change in public name, so if you change your public name it will also capture you

Okay, maybe I'm really screwed up or somthin', but will this not work fro 6.3.1.2..?

The files & code don't seem to have even a remote resemblence to what is shown that needs to be changed...

For which file or both? It is a very simple install and can be done from 6.1.0.4 (where I have it running) to 6.3.x that I am aware of.

Both... I do have a number of other hacks installed though.

Sorry, for the delay I completly over looked this forum as I do not have a copy of 6.3.x series of UBB.

This modification would not be effected by what you have to the best of my knowledge.

Are you still having problems? The only thing I can suggest that I just updated the directions for v6.4 and posted it in that forum and see if it is any closer.

I had some problems getting this script to work on 6.3.1.2

What I needed to do was to remove this line from the code that I should add.

$new_pms = &CheckForNewPMs($profile_number);

And after that it worked.

The error I got with that line included was that the Ultimatebb.cgi file couldnt get parsed.

I'm having a problem..everything works fine..except when I try to perform the login, it keeps telling me that I have an invalid login!?


[edit] never mind.. I just realised that it's case sensative when it comes to the login names. I couldn't enter kev but rather Kev [/edit]

Just the kind of thing I've been searching for. Had no problem installing it on 6.2.1, and runs just fine. I've been having some problems with one person lately, and now he's off using an AOL account to get past me. So this is another great tool in my arsenal.

Your most welcome Also it has already been ported to v6.4 and I am just waiting for someone to allow me to isntall it on a v6.5 system so I can confirm it works there although I beleive the changes between versions are minimal and should not effect it much if any.

Thge latest copy can be found in the 6.4-6.5 forums. You might want to grab the file as there are quite a few new features wwb95 added. All you need to do is replace the ubb_users.cgi file that is packaged with it.
